How to Sanitize your glasses

While we are all taking extra measures to stop the spread of COVID-19 by increased personal hygiene, wiping down hard surfaces regularly, and practicing social distancing, the World Health Organisation suggests that coronaviruses (including preliminary information on the COVID-19 virus) may persist on surfaces for a few hours or up to several days.

And while we are all trying not to touch our faces as much, those of us that wear glasses can often find this challenging, as we adjust our glasses several times a day.

Here are some simple ways to sanitize your glasses alongside your other daily essentials.

  1. First, run your glasses under warm water covering the entire frame and lenses.
  2. Use antibacterial dish soap on your fingers to wipe down all surfaces of your glasses along with the lenses.
  3. Rinse your glasses under warm water and dry with a lens cloth. It's important not to use your shirt or a paper towel as they can scratch the surface of your lenses or wipe away any coatings you might have like TechShield® Blue.

When you aren't actively wearing your glasses, place them in their case. This will help keep them from coming into contact with other contaminated surfaces or your hands.
